Novoceram’s Florilège Ceramic Tiles: A Wallpaper Look-Alike

Weather getting you down? Despite my propensity for neutrals,these bright florals are something of a pick-me-up. The French ceramics manufacturer Novoceram, based in Saint Vallier Sur Rhône Cedex, is reviving the charm of the motifs found in 18th century hand-painted Chinese wallpaper in the new guise of fine white body ceramic tiles. With their delicate, silky texture, seemless aesthetic and romantic imagery, you’d never guess they’re the same material as your practical, scrubbable bathroom tiles.

Czech-Designed 3D Wallpaper

After studying art and design in Prague, Daniel Pirsc searched for an ideal studio where he could create. Voila Mikulov. Inside this southern Czech Republic town, Pirsc decided to focus on one material exclusively. So in 2005, he founded Studio Pirsc Porcelain, whose motto is “porcelain can be different.” The proof is in the pudding, as we all know—or in this case, in the porcelain. And Pirsc is living up to his idea to revolutionize this ceramic, taking it from the domain of Victorian dolls to something utterly modern.

Trove wallpaper design

Founded in New York City, Trove is led by Jee Levin and Randall Buck, who are both accomplished artists and the creative force behind the brand’s ingenious concepts; Trove’s designs push the limits of scale and repeats with unique patterns that are 12 feet high and 3 to 6 feet across. All of Trove’s wallcoverings are printed on commercial-grade paper, using high-quality non-toxic wax-based coatings and archival inks, which have a lifespan of 140 years. Trove’s expertly designed products are eco-friendly and recyclable.

Pelle, Mikkel and Gulspira by Hello Jungerius for IKEA

Hella Jongerius created wall hangings for the IKEA-Unicef program, which helps women in India to start up small sewing businesses and enables their children to go to school. Sources of inspiration are the animals that feature in Swedish fairy tales. In the production process small scale craft production in India is combined with large scale industrial production by Ikea, while the images refer to the local roots of this global company. 
The result consists of textiles of which not only Ikea and Jongerius will benefit, but also the craftswomen who left their traces in the making
