Occidorient carpet by François Mangeol
Occidorient is a carpet. It conceals an essential function of representation. It tries to cross two different, oriental and western cultures, using representative codes and try to offer, a second reading and an update of a know-how.
Historically, the Persian carpet deals with divine. It always filled in East a double function, practical and symbolic. So it is built as a work of architecture, representing a plan. It establishes a magic space including the sphere of the universe. The size(format) ” kelleghi ” or ” kelley ” is very close of 16/9 of our cinema and tv screens, this screen where we design our world.

Wooden Carpet by Elisa Stroyzk
German design student Elisa Stroyzk has created a rug made of wood-veneer offcuts. The geometric pieces are laser-cut or cut by hand then bonded to a textile backing. Stroyzk is currently studying at Central Saint Martins college of art and design in London.

In collaboration with Kvadrat, internationally acclaimed designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have created Clouds, an innovative, interlocking fabric tile concept for the home. Clouds can be used as an installation and be hung from a wall or ceiling. Clouds evolves as you add elements to it, producing a unique three-dimensional effect. Inspired by the inviting irregularity of the surface, you construct your own piece and make your vision reality. Self-expression lies at the heart of the appeal of Clouds.

The passion for designing rugs
The development of nanimarquina has been based on a very clear idea: the passion for designing rugs. A simple principle, a transparent assertion of intentions that becomes reality by combining values such as observation, innovative effort, enthusiasm and the ability to carry craft traditions through to the 21st century. During the Maison & Objet exhibition nanimarquina launched their 2009 rug collection.

Pelle, Mikkel and Gulspira by Hello Jungerius for IKEA
Hella Jongerius created wall hangings for the IKEA-Unicef program, which helps women in India to start up small sewing businesses and enables their children to go to school. Sources of inspiration are the animals that feature in Swedish fairy tales. In the production process small scale craft production in India is combined with large scale industrial production by Ikea, while the images refer to the local roots of this global company. The result consists of textiles of which not only Ikea and Jongerius will benefit, but also the craftswomen who left their traces in the making
