PLOT magazine issue #3

PLOT#3 delivers insight into ILLUMINATED ILLUSIONS – those realities, which can only be generated through light. We show how light installations influence the architectural space, present current research results of LED-ColourLab as well as a stage set doing without real actors, and dare a step into the virtual (brand) environments of 55DSL. Additionally, we bring light into the darkness at a fashion show of a special kind and illuminate the foundations of a successful illusion by means of the perception psychology in the essay by Prof. Felix A. Wichmann.

Island house by IROJE KHM Architects

Island House is built on the Han River in South Korea’s Kangwon-do prefecture. This stunning residential complex runs over an area of over 700 square meters. Some images of the Island House very much remind us of a vessel-like construction which reflects its image in the Han River. Designed by HyoManKim, of KHM Architects, Seoul this steel structure glass house is a great example of deconstructive architecture.

Blueprint magazine issue #282

This month’s cover story is the exclusive, world-first publication of Ron Arad’s Design Museum for Holon, Israel. It is a significant time for Arad: his first US retrospective opens at MoMA in New York in September, and the Design Museum, his first major building, is located near Tel Aviv, where he grew up. Lead by Asa Bruno, the new architectural department of Arad’s office played with new construction techniques and materials, notably an innovative coating for Cor-Ten steel. The dramatic design departs from the region’s modernist heritage with a form rivalling Frank Gehry’s Guggenheim museum in Bilbao: Tim Abrahams reports.
