Club NOX by Metro Arquitectura

Brazilian firm Metro Arquitectura designed the Club NOX nightclub in Recife, Brazil. The commission from three young entrepreneurs, two of them DJ’s with a growing reputation, was to create a dance club never seen in Recife, that could become a reference in Brazil and even in the world. It should be divided in two main spaces, the dance floor and a lounge area with an open terrace to the sky. The building site, a lot located in a corner at one of the most important avenues of Recife.

Rock 7 by Hironori Tsukue

Japanese designer Hironori Tsukue has created a set of rockers for the Seven Chair, designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955 and produced by Fritz Hansen. Manufactured in white, lacquered birch or natural, lacquered ash, the rockers slot onto the chair’s legs without any fixings.

‘Play’ children’s furniture by Jesper K. Thomsen

‘Play’ is a series of children’s furniture designed by Jesper K. Thomsen. The series is produced by Normann Copenhagen and is part of their recently launched new Danish modern collection. The series is inspired by the slapped-together look of a child’s soapbox car and even includes one in the collection. The pieces in the collection all demonstrate this humoristic approach with wonky angles and a home-made aesthetic.

Studio Shulab: ‘Lightpot’

Designers Kfir Schwalb and Orit Magia of Studio Shulab have sent us images of their latest work ‘lightpot’, a small pot for growing plants and herbs indoors. It works with the use of LED lighting. ‘Lightpot’ can be placed anywhere in the house and in any light condition.

On saturday March 21st, 2009 the Milan Design Museum reopens. Various exhibitions under the title ‘Serie fuoriserie’ (manufactured in series / one-off pieces) will be shown in the Milan Design Museum, located inside the Triennale Museum.

New Kvadrat showroom, London

One of Peter Saville’s recent projects with perhaps less cult appeal than his seminal record covers, but definitely no less verve for anyone with an eye for design, is his consultancy for Danish textile giants Kvadrat. Over the last five years he’s tweaked the graphic identity of the family-run company, gently and always appropriately updating the brand for a new generation of fabric fanatics.
