OBJECTIFIED – a documentary film about industrial design by Gery Hustwit

Posted in 01. Design, 15. Video, 19. Other by Hellodesign on March 19, 2009

Objectified is a feature-length documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability.

Through vérité footage and in-depth conversations, the film documents the creative processes of some of the world’s most influential product designers, and looks at how the things they make impact our lives. What can we learn about who we are, and who we want to be, from the objects with which we surround ourselves?

Poliform presents another fascinating chair design – the charming Snake Chair. When viewed from the side, its name is immediately appropriate. The smooth, slim profile of the chair snakes around into an enticing ‘S’ shape. This uninterrupted line is echoed by the matching footstool which curves into a flattened ‘C’. Designed by Roberto Lazzeroni and released in 2008, the Snake’s structure if formed of flexible printed polyurethane, covered in polyester padding for maximum comfort.

Hi, my name is LED Lamp and my creator is not GOD. He’s an award-winning industrial designer called Mikko Kärkkäinen and he designs stuff for his own company called Tunto. I’m a here because the guys at YD think I look flattering and their readers will appreciate me. They think my pa Mikko should send them some free samples of me, because they want to experience my “gentle touch and no visible switches” design. I doubt my pa will ever send me over there, unless they do a giveaway or something!

We want to make it independence by a simple substance. We need the technical skill of infrastructure free.It is possible in thefield of technical skill, but it is not practical at this time. First of all,we present our vision as a designer in order to cover the gap. PACO is… Box of 3m x 3m x 3m cube. And the roof open. It has the minimum equipments to live in spite of all its size. We produced it as a conceptual model to imagine a new life style.
