Stockholm’s Slussen Project Finalists

A winner in Stockholm‘s ambitious Slussen urban redesign competition has yet to be announced, but Bustler has already some exciting images of the currently shortlisted five proposals by internationally acclaimed architects like Sir Norman Foster, Jean Nouvel, and BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), as well as Swedish firms Nyréns Architects and Gert Wingårdh Architect.

Marc Sadler: ‘Tress’ for Foscarini at Milan Design Week 2009

Foscarini will launch a new lamp by milan-based designer Marc Sadler at this year’s Milan Design Week. ‘Tress’ is made from interwoven threads that have been soaked in resin and cast in a long cylinder. The texture of the material is reminiscent of traditional woven fibres like baskets and high tech materials like carbon fibre.

(standard)3 relax by Panasonic Electric Works Co. Ltd will be on display during Milan Design Week 09. The special installation by Martino Berghinz conceived for the event has been thought for a space combining design and technology through the projects by Naoto Fukasawa and Patricia Urquiola. Naoto Fukasawa created ’sphere’, ‘dome’ and ‘bucket’ a collection of lamps which are energy saving. Patricia Urquiola designed a new ergonomic seat by combining highly technological performance features with aesthetics and functionality.

Mgx. by Materialise & Arik Levy at Swarovski’s Crystal Palace

Arik Levy has collaborated with .MGX by Materialise to create Osmosis, an exhibition to be revealed at the Swarovski Crystal Palace in Milan next month. Levy uses the .MGX rapid prototyping technologies to create an installation that combines elements of art, design, technology, and engineering, as well as reflection and light.

The Transforming Movito Electric Scooter

The Movito is an eco-friendly electric scooter that recently took top honors in NASA’s Create the future Design Contest. Designed by Tai Chiem, the vehicle is propelled by a carbon-cutting in-wheel electric motor located within a modular base that can be detached to form a two-seat vehicle.

Munich designers eins:33 have completed the interior of a paper and stationery store in the wealthy Munich suburb of Grünwald. Dressler Papeterie und Accessoires, which opened last week, features timber walls, floors, shelving and display tables.
