Tunquén House Remodel by Delphine Ding and José Ulloa Davet

A collaboration between architects Delphine Ding and José Ulloa Davet produced this remodeled house in Tunquén, Chile. The original house was designed by local architect Pedro Salas in 1990, and this recent remodel was completed in September, 2008.

The Silver Cafe by Arca Architects

Arca Architects designed the Silver Cafe in the town of Morecambe, England. Commissioned by regeneration body ‘Winning Back Morecambe‘, the new cafe building for the Promenade was to provide a distinctive new landmark.

Le Corbusier’s Cabanon reconstructed, London

Though we’re not sure there’s ever been a time when Le Corbusier was out of fashion, it’s fair to say he’s having quite a moment right now. With a retrospective at the Barbican (fresh from Liverpoool) and a new set of prints by Stefi Orazi, Cassina have reconstructed a 1:1 replica of his Cabanon at RIBA’s HQ in London.

Eco-Friendly Boffi Kitchen – New Duemilaotto

The new Eco-Friendly Duemilaotto is a cool, calm and collected kitchen from Boffi. The visually outstanding design by Piero Lissoni uses natural materials such as: stone tile, reclaimed wood and solid wood, contrasted beautifully with man-made materials such as stainless steel and corian. The straight-forward, linear aspect of the kitchen puts the focus firmly on the look of the natural materials and highlights their importance to the overall look. The solid Acacia wood used in the Duemilaotto is, unusually, heat-treated but not stained.

MiLoft by RMJM

Architects RMJM have launched a concept for apartment blocks that do not require heating. The MiLoft concept, launched at the MIPIM property fair in Cannes today, features a super-insulated shell that retains heat generated by occupants and electrical appliances, as well as a heat recovery system.

Oooms Solar Birdhouse

Solar Birdhouse!!! Finally! Well, kind of. Here’s the latest from Oooms ~ they describe their Solar BIrdhouse: “Why would only humans make use of eco-friendly technology? Studio OOOMS designed a birdhouse with a solar panel on it’s roof. During the day sunlight feeds the solar panel, charging a small battery inside. At nighttime the transparent stick will light up and shed a tiny light on your garden. This light attracts an easy nighttime snack for the bird; all she has to do is stick her beak out of the hole and wait for the buzz.”

Edward van Vliet: ‘Sushi’ collection for Moroso

Dutch designer Edward van Vliet launched his ‘Sushi’ furniture collection for Moroso. The range includes ‘Karmakoma’ sofa, ‘Juju’ fauteuil, ‘Sushi’ block seat and ‘Donut’ pouf, which he created with graphic patterns and specially designed upholstery fabrics.
