Vitra is not just a company producing furniture. Vitra is an open-end project. Willi and Erika Fehlbaum have initiated it in 1957 in Basel (Switzerland) and Weil am Rhein (Germany). Nowadays Vitra turns into a very special emotional experience for everyone who gets in contact with it. With the years the project includes lots of initiatives but the engine always remains the same remarkable person – Rolf Fehlbaum. We propose you a exciting meeting with this man…

PING-PONG Dining Table by Hunn Wai for Mein Gallery

PING-PONG Dining table harks back to the origins of table-tennis with its duality of both being a table fit for dining and playing on. What started off as impromptu after-dinner amusement mimicking tennis in an indoor environment for upper-class Victorians became an international phenomenon with rules and standards. This is an official-sized game table with a DuPont™ Corian® surface CNC machine-routed with French Rococo patterns interjected with Ping-pong iconography filled with gold lacquer, supported by stately hand-lathed timber legs.

Snefjord road stop

The site of the road stop is a paradox. Oftentimes, the hardest winds blow off the sea, and yet the most attractive view is toward the fjord. The obvious response in order to shield tourists from the wind would be to construct a view-blocking wall. Instead three “bench-boxes” prefabricated at a local wharf dot the area, and their differing orientations allow visitors to choose where to sit according to wind and sun conditions.

63.02° / Jo Nagasaka + Schemata

63.02º, built in a densely residential area in Nakano, Tokyo, is a small building of a SOHO and an apartment for rent. The front road is really narrow, but the next apartment has a big open space between the road and the building. In order to this situation, the facade of 63.02° is inclined 63.02 degrees toward the front road, so that a wide and deep view is acquired. From the large windows that are opened on the inclined facade, you can see neighbor’s cherry tree and the cityscape.

Rosso Restaurant Interior by SO Architecture

SO Architecture designed the interior for the Rosso Restaurant in Ramat Yishay, a town in the valley of Yezre-el in the Northern part of Israel. The design was influenced and inspired by the geography of the local area. The rolling fields that surround the restaurant are found to be continued in the restaurant’s ceiling, which is built of thirty-six steel contoured structures, and covered by painted wood. The chairs and the wide windows are decorated in plant motives to enforce the connection with the surrounding scenery. When night falls, the lighting, which is between the ceiling beams, forms a warm and somewhat mysterious, atmosphere.
