Scandinave Les Bains Vieux-Montréal, Montreal, Canada

Located in the heart of historic Old Montreal and facing the vibrant piers of Old Port, Scandinave Les Bains Vieux-Montréal is an urban spa whose purpose is to provide a thermal therapy experience that engages each of the body’s senses. The building, rebuilt half a century ago after extensive fire damage, has housed warehouse functions until recently when it was acquired by the new owners. The new spa is positioned at the ground/entrance level of the building. Included among the treatments offered are steam bath, sauna, a large heated pool for bathing, as well as massage therapies.

‘Duo Sofa’ by Fred Rieffel

‘Duo Sofa’ is a modular seating system designed by french designer Fred Rieffel. The design was created for the manufacturer ARFA and was later awarded a red dot design award and a good design award. The sofa is dual sided allowing users to sit on the back and front. In the front, the sofa is more conventional, while the back is a more bench-like seat

Boronkay Linda, Nagy-Britannia legjobb fiatal belsőépítészének tervei alapján, a Werk Akadémia (www.werkakademia.hu) megrendelésére oktatásra alkalmas új tér jött létre az Aranytíz (Budapest, V. Arany János u. 10.) tetőterében, az Arany10Top. Az 1879-1880-ban épült és nemrég felújított eklektikus, neoreneszánsz épület ily módon egy trendi, új elemmel gazdagodott. 3XN: Randers Museum of Art

Danish architectural firm 3XN have been awarded first prize to design the new Randers Museum of Art in Denmark. The museum will be a transition point between town and landscape, art and nature. Opening up at one end towards the town – and at the other towards the landscape; the museum will merge these two concepts through the experience of the works of art within it.

Cook It Up With Silver

Cooka takes away the theory that silver is only meant for cutlery and ornamental purposes. This unique tabletop electrical cooking device uses silver in its design quite generously. Banking on its thermal conductivity properties, the cooking plates use the metal effectively to heat up the utensils fast and cool down the unit even faster.

‘Airflite’ by Kinzo and idee.design.licht

‘Airflite’ has been designed by german architectural firm Kinzo together with idee.design.licht. The ceiling light made from aluminium is available in various colors. Inside the four circle segments are dimmable fluorescent tubes that create light distribution – 70 per cent of the light shine upwards to be reflected by the ceiling, 30 per cent shine downwards.

OPPO Seating Collections from Blå Station

After years of experimenting with the thin seat shells in laminated Formfelt, Stefan Borselius has given shape to a new piece of furniture that seems totally skinless. A body, a form, an “alien” that makes you want to communicate with it. OPPO comes in two sizes; high or low. And in the near future, it will also be available with armrests.

Women of Design – book from HOW Books

The immense body of work produced by graphic designers around the world is astoundingly varied, rich and widely celebrated. Yet in publications, conferences and other public realms, women designers tend to be outnumbered by their male counterparts whose appearances, work and achievements are constantly in the spotlight. Luckily, it’s a reversing trend. While this book does not attempt to relieve the imbalance, it does bring full attention to the wonderful work, careers and contributions of women designers, writers, teachers and entrepreneurs around the world.
